Our selection of meristem tissue culture propagated Cymbidiums offer a wide color range and bloom diversity. Some varieties will flower as early as October, and others as late as May. Standard size varieties are ideal as large indoor decor plants as well as for corsage and arrangement use. Miniature type varieties generally are easier to bloom, and make ideal blooming gift plants during winter months, or to brighten any home with long lasting blooms. Depending on the variety, blooms can last 6-12 weeks.
We prefer to grow plants outdoors from May to October, giving them light shade only from May to the end of August. They like bright light when the sun's heat is not excessive. During winter months 50-70 degrees F are good temperatures, and occasional lower temperatures are acceptable. Plants will not initiate flower buds when grown indoors at warm 70 degree night temperatures.
We fertilize Cymbidiums with a 30-10-10, 10-5-5, or 7-7-7 plant food from February to June according to directions weekly or bi-weekly, and with a 10-30-20, 10-50-10 or similar formula from July to October.
