Orchid Classes at Oak Hill Gardens

Due to our aggressive spring show schedule, we have had to suspend the scheduling of classes for awhile. We hope to resume be April or May. Thanks for your patience....

Oak Hill Gardens will be offering classes on growing orchids here at the nursery. The classes will last from 45-75 minutes and will be taught by Liese or Greg, covering a wide range of orchid related subjects. The fee for the classes will be $10.00 per person, unless otherwise noted. A free orchid plant will be included for each registrant. Classes will be limited to 25 persons. Reservations are welcome; advance payment is required to hold a reservation.  If there is space available, walk-ins are welcome the morning of the class. Please phone us or stop by in person to register for classes.

“Orchids 101 General Care; Keeping Your Plants Healthy through the Fall and Winter Months”

This class will cover the basic care of the most popular varieties of orchids.  It will be a great refresher course for those of you who have attended other care classes.  It is also appropriate for beginners.  Tips will be given on keeping your plants healthy throughout the fall and winter months.

“Trouble Shooting”

This class will cover what you should do when your plants are not growing well.  Black spots, dead roots, black leaf tips, wilted leaves, and moldy mix will be just a few of the topics touched on.  Feel free to bring in your sick orchid for class discussion and diagnosis.

“Expanding Your Orchid Growing Abilities”

Break out of the Phalaenopsis rut and expand your orchid collection.  This class will focus on different varieties that are easy to grow and bloom in your home, while adding more unusual flowers and colors to your collection.  Trying new things keeps this hobby fascinating!
